The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is the federal authority responsible for regulating and overseeing civil aviation safety and security in the United Arab Emirates. Established by Federal Cabinet Decree (No. 4) in 1996, the GCAA leads the development of a safe, secure, and sustainable aviation sector in the UAE, aligning with global best practices and ICAO standards.

Oversight of all civil aircraft registered in the UAE, including air operators, airworthiness, flight operations, and personnel licensing.

Managing UAE’s airspace and enhancing air traffic control systems to ensure efficient and safe air navigation.
Aviation Security & Facilitation
Protecting civil aviation against unlawful interference and enhancing border facilitation standards.
Environmental Sustainability
Implementing eco-friendly aviation policies, including emissions monitoring, sustainable fuels, and environmental impact management
Innovation & Emerging Technology Oversight
Licensing and policy-making for eVTOL, UAS/drones, and other future air mobility technologies.
Investigation & Compliance
Oversight of incident/accident investigations through the Air Accident Investigation Sector (AAIS).
